Honest Folk: Dirk Fourie

Honest Folk: Dirk Fourie
For part two of our Honest Folks series, we sat down with the antique inspired stylist that is Dirk Fourie, and asked three honest questions to get to know him a little better. Here's what he had to say...

-

1. What do you do for an honest living?

I work as a Social Media Specialist for TTI, they own a few well known powertool brands like Ryobi and AEG. I only started there a month ago so it’s all still pretty new, but loving it so far.

2. What do you do when you're not working?

These days it's a lot harder to find time for the things I like to do, I guess it’s called adulting. That means the time I do have needs to be spent with quality people doing quality things. My number one priority outside of work is spending as much time with my wife Danelle and little boy Albie as possible. I also like running, antique shops, looking at old houses or having a cocktail with friends.

3. Tell us something honest (as honest as you like)?

When I moved to NZ from South Africa at the age of 15 I found it really difficult having a name like Dirk, it’s different and nobody could pronounce it correctly. It took me a few years to start embracing it and be confident introducing myself without thinking about how different it is. It might seem like such a small thing but as a young guy trying to adapt to a different culture it was difficult.
